I could only find my mom and her mother - I was unable to find any other family members in the 1950's census.
Mom was 15 years old. That's about all I got from it - She and her Mom were on 2 different pages. Grandma wasn't working - Also on my grandmothers census it did list her with a D for divorced. That is the first time I have seen any reference to a divorce. Now to try and find divorce records - even though I have looked before and found nothing.
So if she was divorced, then she must have been legally married. Then again, she might have just lied - I mean they don't check. So basically I am back to square one.
I don't know why I even bother. These walls are so annoying and defeating. I have been searching since 2007 - I am now 68 years old. I thought for sure, I'd have more answers. Well at least I did find my mom's bio father. I guess you always want more when it comes to Genealogy.
It was said the 1950's census would be more user friendly and I haven't found that to be the case.
Maybe it's just me.

Dearest Debby,
ReplyDeleteWISH that people would write a short bio about their life and whereabouts; in time for being passed on and understood.
Guess it is more often that people leave this life without passing on any ID.
At least both of us have tried hard to complete the stories being passed on to us.
The younger generation might not think it necessary but they too once will face old age...
Our roots do have meaning and they were what we are today.
Hugs,
Mariette

DeleteI have been reading through your blog a bit. Fascinating family mysteries!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi - Yeah my family history is frustrating at best but I am sure others are as well. It's my passion that sometimes I have to let go and then come back to.
DeleteI still haven't seen Michigan's 1950 -- although I haven't checked in a few weeks. Sorry to hear it's not particularly helpful either!
